YANGON — The Union Election Commission will postpone the release of preliminary election results as the counting process has not yet finished, UEC official U Thant Zin Aung told Frontier at 6:30pm on Sunday evening.
They will be announced between 9am and 11pm in three-hour intervals on Monday.
The UEC initially announced that it would announce the preliminary results starting on the evening of election day — Sunday, November 8 — but decided to postpone the official release of results.
“As you can see on television, the voting process has not finished yet, so we cannot announce [results] today,” U Thant Zin Aung said. “The preliminary results will be released tomorrow.”
At time of writing, the UEC has not officially announced the postponement on its website.
