NAY PYI TAW — Complaints about the electoral process must be lodged within two weeks from voting day, the Union Election Commission said late on Monday.
The time limit for lodging any further complaints was revealed by UEC member U Myint Naing in response to a question from reporters about allegations of electoral fraud in Mandalay’s Aung Myay Thar constituency.
UEC chairman U Tin Aye had earlier told a news conference that 48 complaints had been submitted about election irregularities.
Asked about turnout on election day, U Myint Naing told Frontier it would not be known until the UEC received results from all polling stations.
U Myint Naing expressed pride that the UEC would announce the final result within two weeks from voting day. “It’s the fastest in the world,” he said.
