Thailand wants closer govt, army cooperation, Prayuth says

Thailand wants greater cooperation with Myanmar on economic and labour issues, Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha has told visiting Tatmadaw Commander-in-Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, media reports said.

Thailand was ready to work with Myanmar’s new government and expand cooperation in all aspects, the Nation quoted Prayuth as telling Min Aung Hlaing at talks in Bangkok on May 27.

Prayuth also said the armies of the two countries would cooperate more closely, particularly on security and border development issues, the daily reported.

The Tatmadaw chief was in Bangkok at the invitation of the Thai armed forces for a three-day visit that ended on May 28.

Prayuth said the visit demonstrated close and longstanding ties between the armies and the two countries, the Nation reported.
