Nominations open for speakers at TEDxYangon 2017

The organisers of TEDx events in Myanmar have invited the general public to nominate themselves, or people they know, to speak at next year’s event.

TEDxYangon is due to be held in May 2017 under the theme “Tapestry”. The event aims to “share ideas that inspire, open minds and spark dialogue about Myanmar’s past, present and future,” said a TEDx press release dated December 15.

People have been invited to submit nominations for anyone who has an idea that is “compelling, original and relevant” to be a speaker at the event. The deadline for nominations is January 7, and shortlisted candidates will contacted by February 1.

The 2016 event was named TedxInyaLake and hosted at Yangon’s Inya Lake Hotel on March 23. It was held under the theme “Myanmar Connects” and saw speeches from 16 speakers including writers, artists, filmmakers, entrepreneurs and government officials.

Nominations for the 2017 event can be made on the TEDxYangon Facebook page or via email at speaker.tedxyangon@gmail.com
