Myanmar photographers in Bangladesh leave country after detention

By OLIVER SLOW | FRONTIER

YANGON  – Two Myanmar photographers arrested in Bangladesh last month whilst covering the Rakhine crisis have been permitted by authorities to leave the country, according to the pair’s lawyer.

Bangladeshi lawyer Jyotirmoy Barua published a photo on his Facebook account on Tuesday afternoon of a photo of him with the pair, saying “the boys finally managed to leave the country today at 12.20pm”.

Barua could not immediately be reached for comment.

Ko Minzayar Oo and Ko Hkun Lat were arrested on September 7 for visa offences, a day after allegedly travelling into Bangladesh on tourist visas to cover the refugee exodus there.
