KFC opens second Yangon locations

YANGON — Fast food giant Kentucky Fried Chicken has opened its second Yangon outlet, at Junction Square shopping mall in Kamaryut Township.

KFC, which opened its first outlet in downtown Yangon in July, has said it is planning to open a third at Myanmar Centre on Kabar Aye Pagoda Road by the end of the year.

“KFC is a strategic pillar of Yoma’s consumer platform and we take a long-term view into this business,” JR Ching, the chief financial officer of Yoma Strategic Holdings and KFC Myanmar’s managing director, was quoted as saying by Myanmar Business Today. “We are investing heavily to make KFC Myanmar successful and to position ourselves as a key player in Myanmar’s fast-expanding consumer and retail sectors.”

The three-storey Junction Square outlet has space for up to 240 diners and includes a private function room.

KFC, which has said it plans to open more outlets in Yangon in the first quarter of 2016, was launched in Myanmar by Singapore-listed Yoma Strategic Holdings in partnership with American fast food conglomerate Yum! Brands.
