YANGON — Best Western Hotels & Resorts plans to launch its Vīb boutique lifestyle brand in Myanmar, the company said in a news release on November 10.
The Vīb Yangon hotel is due to open on completion in 2018 and will have 110 rooms featuring an “urban design” and a high level of internet connectivity, said the company, based at Phoenix in the United States.
Guests will benefit from complimentary Wi-Fi, workspaces with universal power outlets and USB ports and “smart” flat-screen televisions, the release said.
The Vīb (short for “vibrant”), hotel will also provide guests with mobile check-in services, a snack station and a fitness centre.
“At Best Western we understand that today’s independently-minded guests demand a high degree of convenience and connectivity. That’s why we developed Vīb that focuses on the needs of millennial travellers,” said Best Western Hotels & Resorts’ managing director of international operations –Asia, Olivier Berrivin.

The decision to open a Vīb hotel in Myanmar reflected Best Western’s long-term commitment to the country, he said. The company launched the Vīb brand last year.
In 2013, Best Western signed a management deal for the Green Hill Hotel near Yangon’s Kandawgyi Lake, becoming one of the first global hotel companies to open in Myanmar after its re-emergence on the international stage. The company has since opened hotels in Yangon’s Chinatown and in Mandalay.
