A major concern in Kachin State is a lack of job opportunities, in a region mired by a long-running conflict.
This often leads to people, especially women, crossing the border to China in search of work, where they are at risk of abuse from authorities and human traffickers.
This week, in partnership with Myitkyina News Journal, Doh Athan meets the families of some of the women who face abuse while in China, and who are urging the government to enact stronger penalties for those found to be involved in human trafficking.
