YANGON — At a 12pm press conference today in Nay Pyi Taw, the Union Election Commission announced that the National League for democracy has won 21 seats out of 24 seats in the latest round of results.
The official announcement implicates that the NLD has won an absolute majority in both the Pyithu Hluttaw and the Amyotha Hluttaw. As a result it can nominate two vice-Presidents, which is enough to secure the Presidency and form a government.
After the latest round of results the winners of 83 percent of constituencies are known. Only 180 constituencies are left to be announced.
